The Maze Runner (2014) Movie Review

The Maze Runner (2014) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! So, because "Maze Runner: Death Cure" is coming out this week-end, which I am going to see tomorrow, I decided to re-watch the first two and to give you my opinions of them. So, when the first one came out, the world was a bit fed up with these types of movies, with "The Hunger Games" and "Divergent" series already out but this one had something special that the others did not have and made it a stand out for this genre. Great cast, strong performances, a great premise with a nice script, brilliant action scenes, which there aren't that many but the action that there is more than enough. It has a different opening that throws you directly into the plot, with no exposition or any backstory for the plot or the characters and that makes this movie a stand out because it tells you bits and pieces along the way, making more sense as you go along. Dylan O'Brien is v

I,Tonya (2017) Movie Review

I,Tonya (2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Today we continue out Oscar nominated movies with this particular piece based on a real life story of an "incident" that happened in 1992. We have a wonderful cast with strong leading performances from Margot Robbie and Allison Janey but also Sebastian Stan. The movie has humor but it's more of a dark humor so don't think that you are going to laugh out loud at this movie. Although there are a few lighter comedic moments. The great thing about this movie is that it does not let the humor distract you from the main story and it does that with its tragic and more emotional elements of the story. Another great thing is that, being a tragic story, the movie finds a way to insert some humor into it, like I mentioned before. It's a well thought and well executed retelling of a very important moment in the sport of figure skating. 8.5/10 OK guys, that is my review for today. Next up, a

The Shape of Water (2017) Movie Review

The Shape of Water (2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! It's been a while since I did a review but I am heading into Oscar nominated movies this time of year so today we this review to feast upon. Listen, I love "Pan's Labyrinth" but I think that this one can top that because it is an amazing piece of cinema. It's visually stunning, almost like a poem this movie is, with an incredible, emotional and beautiful story, a love story actually that is not new but del Toro makes it feel and look new. I think it's his version of "Beauty and the Beast" or "Romeo and Juliet" even because the story is similar with those two stories. It has a slow pace but it is worth while because the emotional charge that this movie has is incredible. A stellar cast with some amazing performances from Richard Jenking, Octavia Spencer and Michael Stuhlbarg plus Doug Jones, as always, is incredible in this type of role. Also Michael

Logan Lucky (2017) Movie Review

Logan Lucky (2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! So, it seems that 2017 was a very good year for heist movies, with "Baby Driver" and this one, directed by Steven Soderbergh, who also did, back in the day, a little trilogy called "Ocean's", that were about heists. Well, Soderbergh has done it again with this one, proving that he has not lost his touch at making movies and quality entertainment. The whole movie has the feel of an "Ocean's 11" movie, with the movie itself even mentioning that. It's funny, witty, smart and full of very interesting characters, particularly Daniel Craig's character, whom, by the way, does one hell of a very funny performance. There is not a lot of action but there is no need to be because the movie compensates with a very good written script, great dialogue and funny situations. Soderbergh said that he retired but, judging from this, I think he took a break from retirement an

Mother! (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
Mother! (2017) Review Man, this was a movie that completely blew my mind but not in a good way and I am not even sure that it blew my mind in a bad way because I still don't know what movie or what type of movie this was. Clearly, it's a thought provoking piece of cinema and it looks and feels like a poetry but what was it's main theme? Creation? Motherhood? A women's role in a house? The importance of being kind with your fellow men? Resurrection? Rebirth? Protection Mother Nature? The movie has all these different themes that it tackles and because of that, you don't know which one is the main one. Maybe Divinity or something from the Bible? Adam and Eve perhaps? And if you think this movie is a horror movie, think twice or a couple more because this one ain't horror. I don't even know if the movie know what it is. It's so chaotic and confusing, with so many characters popping up with no explanation making the final act of the movie feel so out of

The Snowman (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
The Snowman (2017) Review So, as much as I enjoyed "Wind River", which is a mystery thriller, with cop elements, set in the winter, that is how much I hated "The Snowman", which is a mystery thriller, or wants to be a mystery thriller, with cop elements, set in the winter. The first one was based on real events this one is based on a novel, a terrifying novel, to be more precise. Yeah, it's not terrifying, it's not a mystery thriller, it's just a mashup of things that I could not make any sense of them. It's boring, it lacks any suspense or thrills, it does not offer a main character study, offers very little exposition and it also lacks any action set piece. The beginning was nice though but after that, it all fell apart. I cannot understand why it went south so bad? You have an incredible ensemble cast, led by Michael Fassbender and you have a great source material. The answer is the execution was flawed. Plus, the bad guy reveal was no surpri

Wind River (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
Wind River (2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! For today, I have prepared three new reviews for three movies, one was good and the other two not so much. So let's start with the good one and I mean this one, of course. If you have seen "Sicario" and "Hell or High Water" and you enjoy watching those movies you will certainly enjoy this one as well. And it is based on real events so it has that reality based element, which is going to make you appreciate this movie even more. It's smartly written, beautifully executed, with the environment playing a big part in inducing the viewer into the chilling atmosphere of the story. It's dramatic, filled with emotions, suspense and thrills and it will keep you invested from beginning to end. It has a fast pace and, although it has it slower moments, it does not get boring. On the contrary, it becomes more interesting. Love the cast, great cast and, of course, great performances

The House (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
The House (2017) Review God this movie was a piece of garbage. With a talented comedic cast like Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler I don't understand why this movie isn't funny. All the humor that exists is low class humor and penis jokes. The premise is good but all the characters are introduced very quickly, with no exposition, the movie is boring, the acting is not good and it's just a horrible and unfunny movie. 4.5/10 OK guys, those are the reviews for today. Next up, more reviews coming. Until then take care and keep on reviewing!

Insidious: The Last Key (2018) Movie Review

Imagine
Insidious: The Last Key (2018) Review So, I saw this movie on Saturday night and I did not know what to expect from this 4th and possibly last entry in this franchise. I very much liked the first two movies and the third one was OK but this one is OK to. It does not raise the bar higher, it even lowers it a bit plus the whole movie feels uninspired and forced. I liked that we get some more backstory about Elise but there are not enough scares for an "Insidious" movie. Lin Shaye tries to do her best to save this movie but, unfortunately, her efforts are in vain. We get some scares but there are your normal jump scares and nothing much. The humor is nice though and the atmosphere is creepy enough to send some shivers down your spine. A bit disappointed, to be honest. 5.3/10

Bright (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
Bright (2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! It has been a while but I am back and ready to rumble. For my first review of this year I chose this Netflix mix between fantasy and cop drama plus a little social commentary for good measure. The thing of it is that the movie tries to blend these three together and, unfortunately, it fails on all three of them. Also, the script sucks and it feels uninspired and lazy. And because this is a cop drama, amongst other things, it comes complete with all of the genre's cliches plus the all known and unoriginal plot with the cop that does not like his partner but, in the end, they become good friends. I appreciate that they tried to change something by putting it in a fantasy world but we don't get any backstory, exposition or any explanation of this world and its characters. And the social commentary things it's pretty obvious so "nice" job with that as well movie. The only good thing about

BEST AND WORST OF THE MONTH

Best and Worst of December 2017 Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor and Happy New Year 2018. Let's hope this year is going to have a tone of good movies but until then let me share with you my Best and Worst of December of last year and no honorable mentions this time because there are just a couple of movies. Let's begin with the worst of them, which there are only two, "Overdrive" and the worst of the month, "Geostorm", both of them mashups of other good movies but, at least "Overdrive" had some entertaining quality and "Geostorm" had no quality. For my best, I chose "American Assassin", "Jumanji" and "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle". The ultimate best was, of course, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" with all of its controversy, I enjoyed it.  OK guys, those are my choices for last month. Next up, I hope it's a review for "Bright" from Netflix. And maybe I will t
