Amityville: The Awakening (2017) Review

Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Today, besides two movie reviews I also going to post the Best and Worst of October. I know that October 31st had passed but the Halloween feeling is still in the air so, this weekend, I planned to see three horror movies that came out this year. The first one is this, another movie about another family that moves into this legendary haunted house. What I can tell you about this movie is that it is terrible. Nothing original, relies heavily on cheap jump scares, it is full of cliches making the movie very predictable which, in turn, kills all the suspense and tension that this type of horror movie should have. Like I said, nothing original, the plot is the usual one, with nothing or anything different to offer. Performances are average at best plus the scare factor is, virtually, missing. With a movie that has a story about this famous house, the movie is not scary at all. And it has a very slow pace that makes the movie less scary and more boring. The 2005 remake, with Ryan Reynolds, is better than this one. Overall, this is just another pointless effort to restart the Amityville franchise. 4.5/10
