Happy Death Day (2017) Review

Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! First of all, what I want to say about this movie is that broke the conventions and the boundaries of a slasher horror movie. The main idea of the movie and strange spin that it has it's just brilliant. Hilarious and weird but brilliant. What they did is they took all of the ingredients of the slasher genre and combined them with the premise of "Groundhog Day". Or, if you want something more recent, "Edge of Tomorrow". They took a risk with this but it paid of in the end. One of the best, inventive and clever horror movie of this year and, possibly, of the last years. One thing that bothered me was that it had many similarities with other slasher movies like "Scream", "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and even "Friday the 13th". And those similarities lowers the originality of the premise and the quality of the movie. Also, it uses cheap jump scares, not many, but without effect. But the end twist has very well constructed and surprising. The build up was nice. Another thing that I enjoyed was that, towards the end, the movie admits that it used the premise of "Groundhog Day" and that wined me over. Overall, it was a nice surprise and definitely worth checking it out. And I need to mention the extraordinary performance of  Jessica Rothe. A despicable character at first but, the last half of the movie, it completely changes and that is the merit of Jessica. 7.3/10

OK guys, that was my review for today. Next up, possibly, to be the "Cars" trilogy. Until then, take care and keep on reviewing!
