Hereditary (2018) Movie Review

Hereditary (2018) Review

Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Well, for today, I have to very different horror movies, both in quality and execution but let's talk about the better one, which is this one, a type of horror that I enjoy very much, a movie that does not rely just only on cheap jump scares, genre cliches, predictability, bloody violence and grisly images.

This movie can be categorized as a smart horror movie, kinda like A Quiet Place and Get Out, two excellent movies, not just horror movies but actual movies. But I digress. This movie has everything going for it, it has a bone chilling atmosphere combined with some great sound effects that offers a really scary experience. I mentioned earlier it does not rely on jump scares because there isn't a horror movie that does't contain at least a couple of jump scares but this one really knows how to utilize them, choosing the perfect moments to spring them out and that is a smart use of a jump scare, with tremendous effects.

It gives you that unsettling feeling as the movie comes to a haunting conclusion, with some excellent twists, a conclusion that will haunt you long after the credits have ended. The story is on point, the script is very good and the actors are doing their part, expertly so.

What more can I say? This movie speaks for itself, of how good, scary and terrifying it is. You just have to watch it and to see for yourself. Although the movie is set in an familiar and classic environment, it's more that just a average haunted house movie. 8.50/10
