Predators (2010) Review

Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Well, I said I would do the reviews for the two AVP movies but, judging by the extremely low quality of those movies, especially the second one with the first being somewhat entertaining albeit very dumb, I have decided that a review for those two was not really necessary. With this reboot however, things are not the same. There aren't good but not as as you would think either.

Let me begin by saying that this reboot elevated, in a small way, the franchise with its sheer use of violence and gore, some good action scenes, although in a small amount with a story that is similar with the one from the original but with some differences and speaking of the original, this one has some nods to it. Unoriginal and uninspired but they get a pass from me because, in a way, it was a testament of how great the original was. We have a good cast, with characters that are socially and culturally different, loved the diversity between them but they have one thing in common and that makes them all the same.

The pacing is a bit slow, it kinda takes a while to ramp itself up, the characters are very swiftly introduced, with very little to zero backstory or some exposition about who put them there. There are some horror elements that reminded the style of the first one but those moments don't seem to have the same impact as in the original.

Overall, it was a step in the right direction but, unfortunately the step was just half of a foot. Plus, the dogs are barely used so don't see the point of even having them in the movie. 6.2/10
