Flatliners (1990) Movie Review

Flatliners (1990) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! So, because there is another "Flatliners" movie that came out and it's apparently a sequel to this one, which I haven't seen it until now, I thought I would do a review of it. It was directed by Joel Schumacher, before he ruined Batman and I can see similarities, in the visual department, with the two Batman movies that he directed. It's not a compliment, because the visual aesthetic and the cinematography is just awful. Full of pillars and statues, too many statues for my taste, bad lighting, on multiple occasions and the whole imagery is an example of how not to do it. The main idea of the movie, however, is amazing and thought provoking but the execution is not that amazing. Also, the script is mainly bad, a few things don't make sense and it borderlines between logical and illogical. The main performances of all five actors are good, William Baldwin surprised me in a good

Despicable Me 3 (2017) Movie Review

Despicable Me 3 (2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! So, today I'm giving my thoughts about the third entry in the "Despicable Me" franchise. Well, what I can say about this one is that it's still entertaining, it's still has a colorful and incredible animation, it's still funny but unfortunately the humor is less present than in the first two movies. Voice acting wise is still great, Steve Carell, for the third time, is amazing, voicing two characters in this movie,  Gru and his brother and, theoretically is the same character but Carell manages to make them different. Trey Parker is voicing the villain, which, at times, falls into his "South Park" voice acting. Speaking of these characters, the conflict between Gru and Balthazar Bratt is moved backwards in order make the relationship between brothers the main focus, which I understand but I wanted to see more of the conflict. The script is, as always, full of in

Despicable Me 2 (2013) Movie Review

Imagine
Despicable Me 2 (2013) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Today, we are talking about the second entry in the "Despicable Me" franchise. Look, the first one was a nice and funny family-friendly animation that both adults and kids can enjoy. The second one is more of that but with less originality. The family-friendly feel is there, the laughs, which are a lot, are there, despite the same rude and juvenile humor that they use, the animation looks even better than the first one, with some amazing visuals and visual effects thrown in there. The voice performances are, once again, brilliant. Steve Carell proves a second time that he is the best choice to voice this character. Kristen Wiig is back, voicing a character that is more important to the story than in the first movie. Speaking of that, we have no character development for these new ones and no story development for their existence, which, in my case, is a minus in telling a linear story. A

Despicable Me (2010) Movie Review

Imagine
Despicable Me (2010) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Today, I will review the first of the "Despicable..." movies and the one that introduced us to the minions. I enjoyed the hell out of this movie, even though it's the 5th or 6th time I've seen it. It gets more and more enjoyable each time you see it because it's that good. What Universal did with this is that, they borrowed elements from Pixar and a lot of stuff from the Looney Tunes era, with the zany comedy and the loony minions, if you will and turned into a family-friendly movie with a emotional and touching story. Basically, if you were a parent and you have kids this is the animation for you. It is perfect for kids to enjoy and for adults to appreciate the joy that a child can bring to you. Although the movie is seven years old, the animation looks great. The action scenes and incredible, the voice acting is impeccable, Steve Carell is a top notch choice to voice this cha

Minions (2015) Movie Review

Imagine
Minions (2015) Review Hello guys and welcome back, once again, to Movie Talks with Tudor! So, like I said, I'm reviewing the "Despicable Me" franchise but I'm starting with the prequel of the series. Look, not all people enjoy the minions but I find them very funny. When I heard that they wanted to make an entire movie with them and telling the whole story of how they ended up with Gru, I was a bit unsure of this because they work very well as I side character in the "Despicable Me" movies. Just look what happened with "Penguins of Madagascar". Likable side characters but not as good as the main focus. That being said, this movie managed to make me like the minions a bit more. Not saying that the movie is very good but it looks nice, the animation is very sharp, the zany comedy of the minions and the situations and interactions they find themselves into plus their language make for a funny movie that both kids and adults will enjoy. However, t

Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! So, let's talk about the sequel to the amazing "Secret Service". Mattthew Vaughn managed to reinvent the spy movie genre with the first one. Like I said in my review, although is based on a comic book, the story is grounded in reality. Vaughn created a spy movie that was entertaining and, at the same time, emotional, with a story that might seem familiar but he managed to make it fresh and original, avoiding the genre's cliches. With the second one, Vaughn ups the ante in the action and special effects department but lowers it in originality and creativity. Look, the movie looks awesome and the action scenes are very entertaining but it looks too much like a comic book. The action, although great, is very over the top that it borderlines between awesome and exaggerated. And the special effects are so non-believable that it makes the whole movie look like a mix between

Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015) Movie Review- POTENTIAL SPOILERS

Imagine
Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor, with a brand new look! Because "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" has been released, which I am going to see tonight, I've decided to revisit the first movie and give you my overall thoughts on it. From the moment this movie began I understood that I'm in for a visual and stylish movie. This movie is like a race car. It starts slow and, gradually, it builds up momentum and, by the end, has reached it's top speed, leaving you amazed and baffled. Although it's based on a comic book and you can see that from the visual style and special effects used, which are awesome, apart from the one at the end, with the heads exploding, I din't quite understood why they went with that effect. Maybe they wanted to give it a little more panache, who knows. So, like I said, although it's based on a comic book, the story is still grounded in reality, with normal problems, no

The Layover (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
The Layover (2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Wow, I just wanna say that I was so surprised with this movie that I did not comprehend that William H. Macy, who is an outstanding actor and he knows comedy, directed this piece of shit. I'm telling you, it's awful. It reminded me of movies such as "Bride Wars" and "This Means War" and that is not a good thing because those movies are awful to. But it has the same plot, mainly with the second movie, stupid, with a lack of originality and comedy. With the jokes being so juvenile and falling flat in every scene is hard to put this movie in the comedy category. Not even a romantic comedy. Look, I very much like Alexandra Daddario but this has not been her year. With this and "Baywatch", it's been rough. But hey, maybe "San Andreas 2" will be good. Unfortunately, not even the two gorgeous leads cannot save this excuse for a movie. I never thought that I

Baby Driver (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
Baby Driver (2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! It's been a while since my last review but I had to do some changes in my apartment but, today, I have the review of a movie that I've waited so long to see and comment. Because I love Edgar Wright and his movies and this one is no different. It starts off with a bang and continues like that, with some occasional pauses that allows you to recapture your breath, until the very end. It has some great action scenes and car chases that makes you think that Wright incorporated some "Fast and Furious" moments in it. One movie that reminded me of was "Driver" with Ryan Gosling from 2011. An excellent movie and this might be a lighter version of that movie but with enough violence and action to keep it entertaining and not slip into some over the top romantic incursion. And you cannot talk about "Baby Driver" and not mention the wonderful and awesome soundtrack that it ha

Unlocked (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
Unlocked (2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! So, the review for today is going to be short because it's about a movie that, despite having a bunch load of movie stars with immense talent and a formula that might be old and unoriginal but, in a weird way, refreshing, the movie undermines all of that with a ridiculous and predictable plot, a lot of genre cliches and less action scenes than you expect from an action thriller. Noomi Rapace is great and she has a wonderful physique plus Orlando Bloom makes for a good side character and all of the other actors handle their respective characters well but I didn't shake the feeling that I have seen something similar before. And it hit me! It's the same producers that did "Salt", amongst other things and I did not like that movie at all. And this one is very similar to that. Plus, it seemed to me that Michael Douglas and Toni Collette were continuing past roles from "Haywire"

Snatched (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
Snatched (2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Today is a shitty day to review a movie. Particularly this horse shit. Despite having two gifted and talented COMEDIC stars and I emphasize the word comedic, this movie is not funny in it's slightest. It has no plot development whatsoever, the humor is weak and very bad, acting wise OK but I felt that Amy Schumer was still playing a version of her character from "Trainwreck" but, hey, that's just me. Most of the story makes no sense, the actions of the characters are, mostly, illogical which makes the movie stupid and confusing. You cannot call your movie a comedy when the only thing that is remotely funny is the interaction between the brother and that U.S. Department Agent. Overall, you will be better off watching any other movie, for example "Trainwreck", which is a excellent and way way way better title than this one. Overall, a stupid, full of cliches, predictable, boring

IT (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
IT(2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Pennywise is back and I'm here to give you my thoughts about IT's latest endeavour. So, as much as I liked the 90's version and as much as I enjoyed Tim Curry's performance as Pennywise, this version takes it up a notch, on the scare factor, performances, special effects, sound design and soundtrack but keeping the whole coming of age theme fresh, emotional and full of heart, emphasizing the word "together" because working together and keeping the friendship alive can you defeat one of fiction's greatest villain. And, if I didn't convinced you in what I said so far that I loved this movie, well I'm saying it. I LOVED IT! It's a darker take on Stephen King's narrative and it's way more scarier than the 90's version. This is the adaptation than I was waiting for and it can satisfy not only Stephen King and horror fans but also movie goers of any type and that

Stephen King's IT (1990) Movie Review

Imagine
Stephen King's IT (1990) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! So, because the new "IT" is coming again to haunt us, I've decided to go back to the past and revisit the TV adaptation from the 90's. First of all, I loved the book and I'm planning to do another reading of it, pun intended and second of all, I really liked this adaptation. It's got some flaws of course but it captured the gloomy and scary atmosphere of the book. Plus, the soundtrack and sound effects ad another lair of creepiness. The main problem of the movie is that it's not as scary as the book. There are, of course, some creepy and disturbing scenes, mainly in the second part, which I found it a bit more terrifying than the first one. Except for the final battle, which was short and disappointing and the spider did not help at all. It looked awful. Of course, it was the beginning of the 90's so the effects weren't that great. The first part of the

The Voices (2015) Movie Review

Imagine
The Voices (2015) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Today, I'm talking about a movie with Ryan Reynolds that does not garner the attention it deserves. If you are a fan of good black comedies, this is the movie for you. It's dark, weird, with a funny but ultimately odd premise that, in my opinion, it has a very original feel to it. Plus, Ryan Reynolds gives an incredible and real performance. You can believe that he has mental problems. The other actors are great too but Reynolds is on another level in this movie. One of his best roles ever. Without counting the one in "Deadpool". It might not be for everyone but, overall, this movie is a look into the world of a mental troubled person, who sees the world only in shades of pink, clean and beautiful despite the world being not even remotely close to that. You should give this a watch, if you like Reynolds and "Deadpool"! 7.5/10 OK guys, that is my review for today. Next up

BEST AND WORST OF THE MONTH

Best and Worst of August Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! And, also, welcome back for a new edition of "Best and Worst". Okay, so, for the worst I have a few that made the month of August feel a bit under the weather. First of all, let's get some dishonorable mentions out of the way. We got "The Circle", interesting premise but poor execution, "The Dark Tower", could have been great but it didn't, great potential not enough power, "Baywatch", nothing good, only the chemistry between the actors and "Rough Night", unoriginal premise and not humor to keep you laughing, despite the great comedic talent. OK, now for the worst is "Annabelle". Not as scary as advertised, only two scenes are great but immediately ruined, wooden performances, similarities with other good horror movies, full of cliches and not enough scares. Now, we get to the best and some honorable mentions along the way. First, &q

It Comes At Night (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
It Comes At Night (2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Today I'm talking about a movie that is both confusing and excellent at the same time. First of all, this movie received excellent reviews from critics but it split the audiences right in the middle. There are some people that enjoyed this movie and there are other people that really did not. Let me explain why you can like or dislike this movie. On one hand, you can enjoy and appreciate the tense atmosphere, the building suspense, the great and eerie soundtrack, the great performances, the interesting mystery, which remains a mystery and the whole horror feel of the movie. On the other hand, some people may not appreciate the slow pace, the lack of action and horror elements, the main plot and mystery, that is never answered plus the lack of character development and exposition. Throughout the movie, you constantly try to understand how this whole thing started but, unfortunately, it's

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Today, I'm talking about an animation that clearly surprised me, in a good way. It has a very nice plot, wonderfully constructed, some very good humor which I want to point out that, yes, it's the lowest form of humor but it clearly works and it's kinda perfect for this animation. And one other plus is that the movie pokes fun at the humor that it uses which made me like it even more. The animation is clear and excellent and it does not shy away from some action either. Great voice talent with Ed Helms and Kevin Hart and, the most important thing is that this animation does not divide the ages. I mean, it's perfect for any age. The kids will love it, maybe even learn something from it and the adults will surely be satisfied with the plot points and be entertained as well. Overall, it's not a perfect animation but it's definitely one of the good ones

Waiting... (2005) Movie Review

Imagine
Waiting... (2005) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Today, we will talk about a movie with Ryan Reynolds from way back, before he was Deadpool. It's a comedy that reminded me, a bit, of Kevin Smith's "Clerks". Of course, we cannot compare the two because "Clerks" is a way better comedy than this one but the whole atmosphere reminded me of that movie. The humor, for some, may be gross, juvenile and childish. And they would be right but, in this movie, I did not mind that type of humor. It kinda works in this one, with the entire situation and story. Ryan Reynolds is still Van Wilder in this movie and the rest of the cast is doing what they can with what they got, which is not much. Overall, it's not the worst movie I've ever seen, it's got it's moments, however few there are and you can have fun with this movie, alongside friends not family. Hey, if you liked "Deadpool" you should check out this movie

The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Summer is now over, unfortunately but the fall movie season has a few couple of hits that will surely entertain us. Until that time comes, let's discuss the first collaboration between Deadpool and Nick Furry. Let me say from the beginning that the movie is not as bad as you would think. It has some great chemistry between Reynolds and Jackson, it has some good action set pieces, the car chase from the third act of the movie springs to mind, some good humor here and there and that's about it. Unfortunately, the movie is full of action comedy cliches, it's so predictable that it takes out all of the tension and suspense, the humor, like I said, good but not enough and the story lacks conviction. And we also have a love story that is merely useless for the plot. Ryan Reynolds proved once again that he can do action and comedy really well and Sam Jackson was OK to but, unfortun
