Stephen King's IT (1990) Review

Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! So, because the new "IT" is coming again to haunt us, I've decided to go back to the past and revisit the TV adaptation from the 90's. First of all, I loved the book and I'm planning to do another reading of it, pun intended and second of all, I really liked this adaptation. It's got some flaws of course but it captured the gloomy and scary atmosphere of the book. Plus, the soundtrack and sound effects ad another lair of creepiness. The main problem of the movie is that it's not as scary as the book. There are, of course, some creepy and disturbing scenes, mainly in the second part, which I found it a bit more terrifying than the first one. Except for the final battle, which was short and disappointing and the spider did not help at all. It looked awful. Of course, it was the beginning of the 90's so the effects weren't that great. The first part of the movie is, mainly, introducing the members of the losers club and there experience with Pennywise and bullies. It's a nice adaptation, with a coming of age story that resembles the ones from "Goonies", "Sand Lot" and "Stand By Me". And it has a bit of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" vibe. The actors were OK, kids and adults but the greatest performance goes to Tim Curry as the demonic IT. Another problem that I have found is that it's to bright, to colorful. The new one is very dark but this one is not that grim, despite the story. Overall, it captured the atmosphere and delivered us a spooky tale about things that can come back and haunt you. 7/10

OK guys, that is my review for today. Next up, is the new "IT". So, get ready to be scared. Until then, take care and keep on reviewing!
