Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) Review

Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Reviews! It has been a few days from my last review but I had some other things to take care off and I was a bit depressed and mad with the latest Oscar ceremony. I don't want to get into it so let's move on. So, I think this was the 30th time I've seen this movie but who's counting right? But I can't help it. It's so good. The atmosphere, gloomy, dark and foreboding, the music, the songs, the performances, the directing, camera work. Everything in this movie is excellent. It's not a full on musical, like with the "Les Miserables" movie from 2012 and that is a good thing, to have some break from the music. Tim Burton does a magnificent job in staging this famous musical to the big screen. The cinematography is also beautiful, encapsulating, perfectly, the revenge story and the transformation of Benjamin Barker into Sweeney Todd. Yes, it's a revenge story and this subject is not new but the way it was fabricated, it's kinda unique and it stands out amongst all the rest. Johnny Depp does a excellent performance, which, sadly, it was one his last good performances until the "Black Mass" movie. He has great chemistry with Helena Bonham Carter. One of Tim Burton's finest and it has his stamp. You can see clearly his style. 9.2/10
