Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) Review

Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Reviews! So, last night I went to see "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and I really liked it. I did not love it and I will tell you why. The movie does what a second reboot of a franchise would normally do, touching every aspect of the same franchise but not be overwhelmed with the pressure of making a movie universe. It's funny but not exaggerated, like "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" was, filled with excellent action scenes and brilliant special effects. Tom Holland shines as both Peter Parker and Spider-Man and most of that is made believable by his appropriate age. I mean, you can truly believe that he is in high school. I think this is the most funny movie iteration of Spider-Man. It's clearly targeted for the younger audience from it's light, colorful and family friendly story to it's snappy and high school humor. Imagine a movie by John Hughes but in the superhero world and this is what you get. A teenage high school action comedy set in the Marvel universe. Iron Man is not as present as I thought which is a good thing because this is Spider-Man's story. The negative things of the movie is that the adults that are going to see this movie are not going to be that impressed. The action scenes are great but they are filmed during the night, most of them, and you can barely distinguished something. The 3-D is amazing, by the way. There are some call backs to other Spider-Man movies, hinted throughout plus a slew of different Marvel characters. Nice work with the villain as well, Michael Keaton is excellent as the Vulture but the Shocker is just pointless. The worst thing about the movie and not being the movie's fault is that is predictable because of all the trailers and clips and that is Sony's fault. The part with Peter's vlog is brilliant by showing a Peter Parker's point of view in the infamous airport battle from "Civil War". And the new suit is awesome. I know, it's to high tech, like an Iron Man suit but it's still one of the greats. Overall, the movie did not disappoint, it has some problems and it's not better than "Spider-Man 2" but you can enjoy it. It's a promising beginning for Spidey in the MCU. Plus I liked how they incorporate Spidey's original theme song in the Marvel Studios opening. Spider-Man is were he belongs. Another thing, the title has two meanings. One is that Spider-Man has returned to Marvel and the second is that the story is set in Peter's high school years and there is a homecoming dance so, nice double meaning! 8.2/10

OK guys, that is my review for today. Next up is another reboot of a old school TV show called "CHIPS". Until then, take care and keep on reviewing!
