The Lost City of Z (2017) Movie Review

The Lost City of Z (2017) Review

Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Review! Today, we are taking about a movie that will make you reminiscent of epic adventure/exploration movies. It is based on a 2009 novel written by David Grann that was also based on real life events, mainly the exploration led by British explorer Percy Fawcett in Bolivia looking for signs of an ancient city, who later disappeared alongside his son in that same jungle. The movie follows the source and the real material very well, with excellent visuals and stunning cinematography. Most of the movie is captivating and thrilling but there are some bits that we did not need. The pacing is state, although in a couple of scenes, the pace is even slower and it kinda diminish the quality, briefly. The movie is also elevated by the performances. Charlie Hunnam surprised me again this year, the first time being his role in "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword" which I have already reviewed and it's on the blog if you want to check that out, taking a character that is complex and giving it an excellent performance. Tom Holland proved me once again that he is a rising star and I cannot wait to see him, once again, wearing the Spidey suit. Sienna Miller was very good, Robert Pattinson showed that he is a great actor, all of them were excellent. The movie is a bit longer that it should have been, 1 hour and 40- 1 hour and 50 minutes would have been perfect. If you look past these little negative bits, this movie is quite enjoyable and adventurous, with emotion, drama and even some humor for good measure. 7.2/10

OK guys, that is my review for today. The following week is Spider-Man week. With the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" movie coming out next week-end I will review the other Spider- Man movies: Sam Raimi's trilogy and the two Andrew Garfield movies, ending with "Spider-Man: Homecoming". Until then, take care and keep on reviewing!
