Fast and Furious 8/ The Fate of the Furious (2017) Review

Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Reviews! Today we will be talking about the first entry in the new "Fast and Furious" trilogy. And, also, the 8th movie of the series. What can I say? This movie was awesome. Full of everything that fans of this franchise enjoy watching. With every movie they take it to a whole new level but in this one I think they broke the barrier of crazy and over the top action and stunt sequences. I mean, it's the most entertaining movie of the franchise thus far. The budget for this movie was 230 million dollars, so is the most expensive movie in the series. And man, did they make that money count? Hell yeah, they did! There is a scene in the movie that contains zombie cars. Yeah, zombie cars! That whole scene reminded me of "World War Z" but, instead of zombies, you have zombie cars. The story is a bit flimsy, a bit like a soap opera filled with betrays, kidnapping and a love story. The chemistry between the cast members is still present and although Paul Walker is gone physically he is still present spiritually throughout the movie and, mainly, at the end. They ensured that his character and spirit remained with the franchise until the very end. Charlize Theron and Scott Eastwood make for a very nice addition to the series, Charlize playing the villain role extremely well and Eastwood being a spitting image of his dad when he was young. The humor is excellent, Tyrese Gibson and the relation between Hobs and Deckard being the main focus. Oh, and, of course, Dame Helen Mirren makes a lovely appearance. The final scene of the movie is great, a bit cheesy but great, suggesting that a whole new family has surfaced, opening a new chapter. Great movie with over the top action but I wonder? For the 9th movie, can they step it up? We shall see. 8.3/10
