The Mummy Returns (2001) Review

Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Reviews! Today, the mummy is returning and, unfortunately, he's kinda out of shape. Let me get into this and tell you more. The sequel is beneath the original because, most of the time, it's the same goddamn thing, with minor differences. There are so many scenes that reminds you of the first one, that you would think why do they bothered with making this in the first place. The plot is thick and too convoluted, the script almost makes no sense, the CGI is mostly bad and so obvious, with some few exceptions and it borrows heavily from the "Indiana Jones" franchise, like the first one did. There is nothing new in this movie, nothing fresh. It's the same stupid story, with the same characters that make the same stupid decisions to awake the same stupid mummy and, finally, to an end that is, basically, the same. It's less scary and less enjoyable. And, sometimes, it doesn't even acknowledge the existence of the first one, changing some things from the first movie. The actors are still good, no problem there but the movie gave the sense that it was relying too much on the CGI characters then the real ones. Well, at least this movie introduced "The Rock" to the world and the world of cinema, as well. Poorly written, poorly directed and pointless. The action is still good, though. 5.9/10
