Transformers: The Last Knight (2017) Review


Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Reviews! So, I just saw the fifth installment in the Transformers franchise and I can say that I'm disappointed. And this is the first Transformers movie in this series that managed to do this. The movie is exactly what you'd expect from a Michael Bay Transformers piece. Excellent and superb special effects, great action, great sound design, mostly good humor and a nice soundtrack. On the other hand, this has to be the slowest and boring movie of this series. It has action sequences but there are so far apart that everything that is in the middle feels like it's dragging the story. And the run time, which, is again, exaggerated, feels longer than it actually is. The movie is 2h30 min. but it felt like double that. The story makes no sense, some of the plot elements are nonsensical and illogical. The humor works, most of the time. I know that some didn't like the humor but I didn't mind it. O, and the part with Optimus being all evil is so short that was not worth it. Plus, Optimus and Megatron are barely in the movie. We have some small hints that connect this one with the other entries in this franchise, some of the actors from the previous three movies make a comeback, Josh Duhamel and John Torturro, which I enjoyed. Stanley Tucci is back also. Mark Wahlberg is great. The female element in this movie is represented by the beautiful Laura Haddock and the little Isabela Moner. Sir Anthony Hopkins makes an appearance as well and his character is mostly annoying. It borrows from other movies, like "Star Wars" or "Logan". Overall, this whole movie, although having great special effects and great action, mainly in the last act of the movie, is confusing, thinly plotted and possibly, the worst in the series. Even than "Age of Extinction", if that's possible. So bummed about this! 5.2/10

So let's start with the good one and I mean this one, of course. If you have seen "Sicario" and "Hell or High Water" and you enjoy watching those movies you will certainly enjoy this one as well. And it is based on real events so it has that reality based element, which is going to make you appreciate this movie even more. It's smartly written, beautifully executed, with the environment playing a big part in inducing the viewer into the chilling atmosphere of the story. It's dramatic, filled with emotions, suspense and thrills and it will keep you invested from beginning to end. It has a fast pace and, although it has it slower moments, it does not get boring. Mission Impossible 3 (2006) Review Hello guys and welcome back to Movie Talks with Tudor! Well, this is what I am talking about, if you want to make a great action movie but still keep the style and panache of the original. J.J. Abrams did it. He combined, successfully I might add, the stunts and special effects with the style that made the first MI so good. It does suffer in some departments, especially the script and character development but that is just nitpicking at this point. The visual effects are awesome, the action is great and fast paced giving you the right amount of time to breathe before it chuckles you again into the action. The acting is top notch with a very good villainy performance from P.S. Hoffman.
