See You In 2017

Imagine
New Year Message So guys this is the last day on 2016. A good year, from my part but I hope 2017 will be a better year for all of us. Be healthier, smarter, kinder and more wiser. Have a blast on this New Year's Eve, I know I will, and more reviews coming in 2017. Not tomorrow, or on Monday but from the 2nd of January. I hope. Enjoy this night and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017!!!

The Disappointments Room (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
The Disappointments Room (2016) Review My final review of the year and my last movie of this year was, like its title, a DISAPPOINTMENT. There is nothing scary in this movie. It relies on a never ending haunted house plot, which we have seen dozen of times in better horror movies, many horror cliches of course and some cheep jump scares. Nothing in this movie screams original. Nothing. Kate Beckinsale looks good, and her performance is OK, but is not enough. It's like comedy movies. The main reason you see a comedy movie is that you want to laugh. As for horror movies, you want to be scared, you want to enjoy it. This movie does nothing in that department. It is boring and dragging it's feet. Luckily, is just under an hour and a half, so you don't have to endure it for a long time. It's a bad movie. 4/10

Collide (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
Collide (2016) Review My final reviews for this year. Such a weird year in cinematography this was. Sequels that nobody asked, movies that failed and they had great potential, blockbusters that did not delivered and some good surprises as well. I cannot wait for next year but, for now, lets review this thing. So you have an incredible cast like Nicholas Hoult, Felicity Jones, Ben Kingsley and Anthony Hopkins and you think that you will get an incredible piece of work. Unfortunately, it is not. The plot is unoriginal and familiar. The action is good though and we get some very nice scenes with car chases. Speaking of cars, good job on the selection, especially the last three. Performances are OK, I was a little bit bothered by the fact that the main character switched cars like socks. In every scene he uses a different car, which for me, was annoying. The movie looks like a rip-off a "Fast and Furious" film. It has many similarities with those movies and i didn't like

The Great Wall (2017) Movie Review

Imagine
The Great Wall (2017) Review I had a blast seeing this movie. It has some issues, of course, but the action, the battles, the costumes, the visual and special effects and the camera work are the good points for this movie. The director knows how to use his camera to give us the most dazzling visual experience. The costume design for the armors looked very good and I liked it that there all were different colors to establish the fight force of the army. Speaking of the army, well organized man. The CGI for the monsters was OK, I wasn't bothered by that. Matt Damon does action well, so no problem there. Pedro Pascal, the guy from "Game of Thrones", and Willem Dafoe were good additions to the movie, Pascal being the comic relief. The problem is that it looks like a Hollywood blockbuster which we have enough of. It was made in China so I thought I am going to get something different but its the same recipe. I would have like it to be more story than special effects and C

Deepwater Horizon (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
Deepwater Horizon (2016) Review From "Lone Survivor", to this one and ending with "Patriots Day", Peter Berg has become an expert in telling real life events on the big screen. The guy knows how to encapsulate the emotions, anger, fear, courage and the human spirit of its characters based/portraying real life people. This movie is a testament of the courage showed by the crew of the titled oil rig. The movie uses brilliantly the man-made disaster story and we get this action thriller that is gripping, dark, gritty, emotional and serious. The scene at the beginning of the movie, in the kitchen, Peter Berg deploys a very smart and brilliant hint on what to expect. Performances are great, Mark Wahlberg, by my opinion an underrated actor, does a very good job by showing all the moods that his character/real person is going thru. Kurt Russell, John Malkovich and Kate Hudson are very good as well. Good acting, good directing, great effects and an emotional, sad and g

Max Steel (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
Max Steel (2016) Review This is a movie that only select few have seen it. Why? Because it is horrible, boring, unoriginal, familiar, useless and, did I mention boring? I did? Well I'm going to say it again: BORING. The plot is nothing new, the action is missing, except for, maybe, 2 scenes, the special effects look lazy and cheep and the whole movie is a waste of time. The final battle is, maybe, a plus, but staying and enduring the whole movie just to get to that scene is not worth it. It reminded me of "I am Number Four", which was not a great movie, but at least that one had some action, romance, some average special effects and some teenage drama. This has nothing to be entertaining or interesting. Steel was OK, I think he is the best part of the movie. Also, the suite looks good but it only appears three times and very briefly. Overall, see some Marvel or a DC movie. Don't see this one. 4/10

Incarnate (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
Incarnate (2016) Review I was very disappointed with this movie because it has a very interesting premise and a new take on the demon "eviction". The movie is almost, barely, an hour and a half but you don't get many explanations of how did the main character got his powers or anything. It borrows some "ingredients" from other movies like "Inception", "The Cell", "Insidious" (it's the same company that made these movies so I can buy that), "Inception" and, of course, "The Exorcist". What comes from all of this mess is a slow, boring, not that scary, predictable and unoriginal horror movie. Like I said, the movie has a slow pace and thru this slow pace we get 2 or 3 "tense" scenes to take us out of limbo. Those scenes have nothing to offer because there are not that long and not really developed. Like I said, the plot is unoriginal and familiar but it has that new take that would have been great

Trolls (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
Trolls (2016) Review If you want a colorful adventure that you can enjoy and your kid would love it, it's this one. The beloved characters are brought to the screen in great fashion. It is a really fun and entertaining adventure, geared more to kids than adults, with catchy songs that maybe will put the "Frozen" mega-hit " Let it go" on a a break for a while and great voice performances. We got Anna Kendrick, who prove she can sing in the "Pitch Perfect" movies and has an amazing voice, Justin Timberlake with his "Can't Stop the Feeling" that will make you wanna get up and just dance, Zooey Deschanel, Gwen Stefani and James Corden. Of course is not as good as a Pixar movie but it is good enough. It's funny, colorful, joyful, a bit exaggerated with the happiness and the glitter, and a perfect movie for the kids. The plot is not so original but it's an animation so the plot is not that important. This is how they should have do

The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016) Review I can say that I did not expect this movie to be great but I was mistaken. This movie is awesome. The atmosphere, the tension, the creepiness of the story, the mystery of the body, all of this mixed up give you a unique and chilling movie experience. It starts off great, it builds up very nicely to an excellent ending. The performances are very good, Emile Hirsch and Brian Cox doing a very nice job portraying these characters. When you look at its title you would think that this movie is going to have gruesome and bloody violence but instead you get a smart and creepy thrill ride. Great job from the director as well, Andre Ovredal, who did "Troll Hunter", which I haven't see but planning to do so after I saw this movie. Job well done and keep it up. On the down side there are some classic horror cliches but you can glance over that by watching and paying attention to the captivating story. 8.9/10

Remembering Carrie Fisher (1956 - 2016)

Imagine
Carrie Fisher Tribute Man, this year, 2016, continues to deliver us untimely deaths of celebrities and,  tuesday, we find out that Carrie Fisher has passed away. A very sad moment, especially for those who grow up with her and the Star Wars movies. Of course, her most memorable role was Princess Leia in the Star Wars saga but she was also a true activist, humanitarian and writer. This is just the worst and I can't believe she has left this world. It is a shocking news and I still can't believed it. R.I.P. Carrie Fisher, you will be missed.

Blair Witch (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
Blair Witch (2016) Review Although this is kind of a rehash of the first movie, which was most memorable than this one, this should have been the sequel and not that stupid "Book of Shadows" nonsense. Like the first one it starts off on a positive note but, of course, things change. I can tell you that this is a scary movie, it's got some new twists and turns, some very frighting noises and some effective scares. The atmosphere is chilling but you can't help it and you could see that the movie is just the same story but with different characters and a plot that is somewhat different than the first. We get to see the witch, which is great and also scary. The way they design the witch kinds reminded me of that creature from the end of "[Rec]", the spanish horror movie from 2007. It is also kinda lazy, I think. It does not have that wow factor, but it's scary. Overall, the movie is a decent addition to this franchise and it answers the question of the

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000) Movie Review

Imagine
Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000) Review So this movie is crap, considering the first. It tries so hard to be the first movie, that is does not bring anything new to the table, it has no originality or creativity, it borrows some of the elements from the first and uses them in a different but formulaic way, the dialogue and the writing is awful, the story makes no sense, the ending is more nonsensical than anything else, the performances are bland, the actors don't convey any emotion of any kind and the movie is not found footage anymore. It starts off like a found footage but it tricks you and becomes a generic, predictable and useless sequel. O, I almost forgot. The title of the movie says Book of Shadows and there is no mention of any book in the movie. Was it figuratively? I don't know and I don't care. 2/10

The Blair Witch Project (1999) Movie Review

Imagine
The Blair Witch Project (1999) Review This movie started the whole found footage style that is very popular today. The movie is tense, scary, keeps you on the edge of your seat and is not relying on cheep jump scares or gore. It keeps it's villain in the shadows, which is a great move, letting you use your own imagination, which can be as scary or scarier than the witch itself. The movie starts off on a very joyful and positive vibe, leading to a situation of terror, agony and despair which ends in an abrupt and shocking way, which bothered me a bit. The tensions between the three characters is palpable and it amps up the whole story. The way is shot is good, a bit of shaky cam in some parts. Overall, the movie has become cult classic and you can see why. 9/10

Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010) Movie Review

Imagine
Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010) Review I was very surprised with this movie on how good it was. You will change your view on Santa Clause when you see this movie, and kids should definitely not see this movie. It is a great mix between comedy and horror. It is a finish movie, most of the dialogue is in finish, but it does not bother or take you away from the story. It is a dark and grim tale, an unconventional and weird Christmas movie with some great performances. The film is based on a short movie from 2003 called "Rare Exports Inc." and it tells the story of the real Santa Clause. A brilliant directed and written movie, a bit scary, with ordinary characters and a surprisingly happy ending. A movie that looks like a story from the brothers Grimm and I it reminds me of the "Krampus" movie from last year. Just as dark and terrifying. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't show us the real Santa but, other than that, very good movie. 9.2/10

Die Hard (1988) Movie Review

Imagine
Die Hard (1988) Review This year, Santa's got a brand new gun. I'm just kidding, Santa does not have a gun but John McClane does. What will Christmas be without the ultimate holiday action movie? Not the same I can tell you. So many movies and sequels tried to copy or upstage this action classic but all of them failed in doing so. You cannot match the pure action, thrills and chills that only this movie can give you. Bruce Willis launched his career with this one and became an action hero, Alan Rickman (R.I.P.) gave us a excellent performance and a great villain and we got the famous line "Yippee ki yay motherfucker". Great action, great performances, great directing, great writing and a great movie. What more can you say? This is the best Christmas movie ever! Hands down! 9.5/10

Dr.Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) Movie Review

Imagine
Dr.Seuss's How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) Review Let me say this from the start. Jim Carrey does a magnificent job in this movie and the make-up is absolutely great. The Oscar was well deserved. However, the movie is decent but not good. It's dragging almost all the time, until the end. It has it's fare share of funny scenes, lifted by Jim Carrey's performance, which, from my part, it saved the movie. There are some parts that are not suited for a Dr.Seuss story but it also has emotional scenes which compensate the other things. This impersonation of Grinch is like the Mask but with less charm and more mayhem. And, of course, who better to play a green character than Jim Carrey, which also played the Mask. So it's a decent movie, fun, entertaining but not as good as the cartoon. 7/10

Jingle all the Way (1996) Movie Review

Imagine
Jingle all the Way (1996) Review So Christmas has past, I hope you had a great time celebrating but now, until new year's eve, let's get back to work. I saw this movie the day before Christmas Eve and it's one that I keep on watching every year. Why? Because it has the Terminator himself fighting everybody for an action figure, proving that he can do comedy as good as he does action. The movie is a funny, but flawed, roller coaster, filled with jokes that most of the time fall flat, the tone is a bit uneven, cheesy and a bit depressing at times. The whole movie is a satire for consumerism, showing that Christmas has become more of a commercialized holiday than a religious one. The movie also has emotion and some of the scenes are quite funny. The movie is a good family fun and for me, it's a classic. And the producer was Chris Columbus and you can see that Home Alone feel that this has in some scenes. It's a decent movie, but unfortunately, it has more wrongs t

Holiday Message

Imagine
Hi guys! No reviews today because it's Christmas Eve and I've got a lot to do and prepare. So I thought I would give my holiday message instead. I wish you all to have a marvelous, joyful and happy Christmas with loved ones, family and friends and to be more giving in these special days. I will return with some reviews possibly the beginning of next week. Until then have a wonderful and Merry Christmas!

Passengers (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
Passengers (2016) Review So Hollywood began sort of a trend in 2012 with Prometheus. And from then on we got a new Sci-fi movie every year, not including Star Wars in this. From average to good and really good. In 2013 we had "Gravity", in 2014 we had "Interstellar", which was a bit confusing at times and last year we had "The Martian". This year we got this movie which is so-so. The story is a bit flawed, execution being the same and I would have liked it more if the story would have been focused on the two characters all of the movie. We get a bit of that but most of the movie focus is shifted to the glitches and errors of the ship. Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt have a great chemistry, working very well together, the humor in this movie is good and it blends very well with the sci-fi elements of the story. Martin Sheen and Laurence Fishburne do a good job to. The visuals are great and the acting is great but, unfortunately, the story is not well

Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006) Movie Review

Imagine
Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006) Review So this movie showed me that the series is all but done. This one is definitely the worst of the bunch. It is boring, almost not funny, the comedy is only slapstick comedy and the gags and jokes are hollow and bad. Tim Allen does not look invested in the movie like he does in the other two, he is a bit bland and the performance seemed a bit tired. Martin Short is a great addition playing Jack Frost, a bit over the top, but not that bad. The movie takes a bit of a Back to the Future vibe and, the idea is good, but not executed properly. The movie is slow and it drags all of the time. Bad movie. 3/10

The Santa Clause 2 (2002) Movie Review

Imagine
The Santa Clause 2 (2002) Review Well this one is not as good as the first but it's enjoyable. The effects are improved from the first, which had some average special effects, the puppet Santa looked good, not that fake. The performances are still the same, Tim Allen giving another good Santa performance. Some jokes work, others don't like the farting reindeer but Chet is an improvement, the setting design does not look that good, the plot is build mainly for kids and the romance story looks fine. Overall, the movie is friendly family fun, with some romance, enjoyable but forgettable. 5.7/10

The Santa Clause (1994) Movie Review

Imagine
The Santa Clause (1994) Review What do you get when you combine Disney and Christmas? Well I'm gonna tell you. This movie right here. Taking a break from all the modern yuletide movies, we are introduced to a much more traditional and old-fashioned Christmas movie. You can feel the spirit of Christmas all around this movie taking you thru the whole process of becoming Santa Claus and the operation that is delivering presents to all world's children. This movie is great, funny, witty and full of joy. The jokes are good, performances are good and Tim Allen does a great job as Santa/Scott Calvin. Of course it's got flaws. It starts slow, the plot is a bit muddled, a bit boring some times but overall, the movie is about faith, family and the joy of Christmas. P.S.- Scott Calvin has the same initials as Santa Clause. What a coincidence, right? What more of a sign do you need? Getting of topic here. The movie is good, not great, but is worth a watch on Christmas. Is definite

Tangerine (2015) Movie Review

Imagine
Tangerine (2015) Review So, this movie is like nothing I have seen before. It's a Christmas movie but very unconventional and a bit strange and weird. The casting is excellent, not a single actor is a famous face in this movie, bringing the performances to a hole new level. The story is well told and well executed, it has that old - fashioned comedy style and feel, the performances, like I said, are extraordinary, the lighting is very good, cinematography as well and the camera work is impeccable. I did not like that the characters where a but undeveloped, the beginning is a bit rushed, throwing you right from the start into the story, not giving any information or not enough and the accent can become a little frustrating at some points. But, the movie is fun, aggressive, full of heart and emotion, groundbreaking thru it's technique, acted superbly with a story that will keep you invested until the very end. Fresh, fresh, fresh. Certified fresh! 9.8/10

Home Alone 5: Holiday Heist (2012) Movie Review

Imagine
Home Alone 5: Holiday Heist (2012) Review So I said yesterday that this movie has buried the "Home Alone" franchise into the ground, but I was mistaken. This actually tried to dug it up because the stupid 4th movie had put the franchise into the ground. The movie surprised me with a new place, new story and new characters. Don't be mistaken, the movie is not good, but is better than the 4th and, possibly, the third one. I would  have liked to see this one as a third installment. It has an interesting idea, that is different than the other movies, but is a bit juvenile and stupid. The idea is that a ghost is haunting the house in which the family moves in and, of course, three thieves want to steal a painting that is inside the house. The ghost idea, although stupid, ads a little mystery and a sinister feel to the story. There are some funny moments, the script is better than the previous movie and the traps are hilarious, in the style of the original. Yes, this movie

Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House (2002) Movie Review

Imagine
Home Alone 4: Taking Back the House (2002) Review I don't have anymore words to describe this abomination that should have never existed. In my review of the third movie I said that the last two nails were coming with the last two movie but I was wrong. This was the final nail in the coffin, the last movie just buried the series 100 feet under. The whole movie is awful, nothing about this is funny, the characters are the same from the first two movies but younger, which spells continuity error, the plot is rehashed and made from bits that they took from the previous movies, even the third. The kid is awful and the other characters I don't even care about. Kevin is 10 years old in the second movie, and here he is 9 so 1- they'v gone back 1 year or 2- the action takes place between the first and the second movie because I can't explained it. This movie makes me so mad because it ruined everything that I loved in the original and the second. At least the third has som

Home Alone 3 (1997) Movie Review

Imagine
Home Alone 3 (1997) Review Oh God, this series should have ended with the second movie but he got a third one, just to milk another couple of bucks from the people. The movie is fun, I give them that, but it's to cartoonish. The characters are underdeveloped, especially the villains, and the plot is ridiculous. The kid, Alex D. Linz, is doing a good job filling the shoes for Macaulay Culkin and they added a few different things to try and make this movie stand on it's own and it works, almost. John Hughes remain to produce and write the script for the movie and that was a good thing. The script has some issues, some jokes fall flat and some of the lines don't sound right, but it's funny. If you are a kid, you are going to love this movie. Another negative point for the movie is that that action does not take place on Christmas, in takes place in January. Raja Gosnell directed this movie and he didn't do a good job. Overall, some chuckles cannot save this movie

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) Movie Review

Imagine
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) Review This is when the downfall of this series began. Don't get me wrong, I liked this movie and is not that bad but it's an exact copy of the first one. It's like the "Hangover" trilogy: the first is good, the second one is a copy of the first one and the third is something different but not that good. Yes it is much funnier than the first one, the main character is more mature and ballsy, the tone is a bit more darker, the stakes are higher and the traps are much deadlier and more dangerous. Chris Columbus did the same thing with the second Potter movie: took out the kid friendly tone and swap it with a darker tone. It's longer than the first one with half an hour and that only drags down the movie. Overall, the movie is funnier but it is a copy, so not very original at all. Still, it's better than the third one and the last two moronic movies. Not that memorable but enjoyable. 6.5/10

Home Alone (1990) Movie Review

Imagine
Home Alone (1990) Review Christmas is almost here and you know what that means: "Home Alone" movie series. Not the hole series but mainly the first two. For the purpose of reviewing all of the "Home Alone" movies I decided to watch even the other three movie, but only for that purpose. Before I dive in the review I would like to say that the whole series is about family mainly the relationship between mother and son, especially around the holidays. That is the main focus of these movies. Now let us review. The movie has a lot of funny moments, an excellent performance by the young Macaulay Culkin, alongside great performances from the whole cast. It has that kid friendly feel and Chris Columbus uses the exact same style in the first Harry Potter movie. Yes the plot is a bit thin and the script is a bit uneven, but John Hughes does a good job making it funny. It is a classical movie, with lots of laughs, heart and great music by the magnificent John Williams. Sp

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989) Movie Review

Imagine
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989) Review This movie is very funny, not that disciplined, but with lots of seasonal cheer. From my part, it's the best in the "Vacation" series. It's a Christmas classic that I watch over and over again every year around Christmas and I suggest everyone should watch it. John Hughes wrote a nice and funny script and the director, Jeremiah Chechik, did a good job putting it on screen. Chevy Chase is hilarious, like always, and the supporting cast ensures that same hilarity with Randy Quaid being at the center of it. Although, the narrative is not that good and some of the jokes fall flat. Overall, the mix between cynical and funny works, the movie is good but not great but it does have enough funny and heartwarming moments that make this movie watchable. And you may recognize a young Johnny Galecki from "The Big Bang Theory". 7.2/10

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) Review This movie puts the word "war" into Star Wars . We were promised a war movie we got exactly that. You can see the connections with the Star Wars mythology, especially with the original trilogy, from the dated technology, the outfits and the ships and war machinery. We have a new narrative, new characters and Darth Vader himself in his prime. The Darth Vader in this movie is nothing like the one from the original saga, he is in his prime in this story line, more powerful and more terrifying. The last scene in the movie gives you a look at the ultimate Vader. The movie starts off good introducing to us the main character, Jyn Erso, before it slows down a little bit in the second act of the movie. We have a few tense scenes between act one and two culminating in the third act with an amazing battle on an unique tropical planet, which is new in the Star Wars universe. The characters are not developed enough, unfortunately and, like

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015) Movie Review

Imagine
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015) Review So this review comes one year late because when I saw this movie in 2015 I didn't started this reviewing blog but with the launch of the Rogue One, the first movie from the extended universe of Star Wars which I will see tonight and review tomorrow, I revisited this extraordinary relaunch of the Star Wars Saga. Director J.J.Abrams accomplishes everything I would have expected from this movie, giving us a familiar story wrapped up in a different package. You have the former glory that was Star Wars before the prequels induced with new energy, new characters and a new villain. The opening scene alone is enough to get you to love this movie. The movie is packed with super action, familiar faces and newcomers. Of course the story is familiar and the Starkiller Base is a third Death Star, only bigger,  but Abrams did not want to risk anything so he kept it as classical as possible but giving it a unique and different feel. It h

Inferno (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
Inferno (2016) Review I am not a fan of these Dan Brown adaptations. I did not like "The DaVinci Code", I thought it was boring and the "Angels and Demons" I founded to be a little more intrigued and more entertaining which is why I think it is the best in the series. The third outing brought the Robert Langdon trilogy to a new low. The movie is senseless and hollow. Unfortunately, the performances of the great Tom Hanks and Felicity Jones are good but not enough to save this movie. The beginning is interesting, with those sinister and unsettling  images of hell. The movie is predictable, you see the twist coming from a mile away, the pacing is slow and the plot is unsurprising. The cinematography is great and the scenery is beautiful, but if these are the only two good things in your movie then you have a problem. Although is a bit entertaining at times, the movie is not great. 5.9/10

A Christmas Story 2 (2012) Movie Review

Imagine
A Christmas Story 2 (2012) Review What can I say about this abomination of a movie. It should not have existed. It's a crap fest from beginning to end. It's not funny, it's unoriginal and it's an insult to the original classic. The writing is bad, the performances are bad, the script is nothing but an uninspired mess and the execution is lazy as fudge. You don't need a sequel to the original. It's like that stupid sequel to the "Christmas Vacation" movie. There is one bright side in this: Daniel Stern. Now that I think about it, it makes me feel sad for him that he is doing crap like this. You are better than that Daniel Stern but hey, good to see you again! 3.5/10

A Christmas Story (1983) Movie Review

Imagine
A Christmas Story (1983) Review They don't make them like this anymore. This movie is what Christmas suppose to be: wanting a special gift, kids, snow, Christmas trees, family and sticking you'r tong on a steel pole. It's a good, warm, darkly funny and family friendly Christmas movie. It has that nostalgia feel to it. The story is great, the narration gives a unique "taste", the characters are relatable, the humor is dark and funny and the whole movie makes you feel that Christmas spirit, inducing you with yuletide cheer. It's not aiming to be commercial or religious, just a traditional holiday story. It is a classic and you should see it every Christmas, alongside two other brilliant Christmas stories "It's A Wonderful life" and "A Christmas Carol". 9/10

The Accountant (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
The Accountant (2016) Review So we have another Ben Affleck movie, but it's not a Christmas one and it's a far superior movie from a far superior career path that Affleck took. The movie starts off slow, we get some backstory of the character with some flashbacks that are appearing frequently in today's movie and television era. A solid performance from Ben Affleck, showing us that he is not just a good filmmaker, he is a good actor as well. The chemistry with him and Anna Kendrick is believable, I could buy that. The action scenes are good but it takes some time for the movie to reach that kind of tension. It has a Jason Bourne feel to it, the movie drags along most of the time but the action scenes are more down to earth which keeps you engage with the story, which is not a well crafted one. Overall, it's a good movie, with great performances and nice action. 7.2/10

Surviving Christmas (2004) Movie Review

Imagine
Surviving Christmas (2004) Review Hi everyone. I'm back with some more Christmas movies reviews. I know you're tired of it but it's the season so you hold on a little bit longer. This time we have another cash grab Christmas movie but a funny one, in fact. The idea itself is crazy and not that good, the characters are unpleasant and they go off at each other for the most part of the movie, one liners that fall short and plus Ben Affleck's character, which is the most horrendous and obnoxious in the movie. The performances are so-so, mainly Affleck's performances which is exaggerated and over the top but there are some funny scenes and some good Christmas music. The ending was predictable, the directing was awful which means that the movie is fun but not good. 5/10

Black Christmas (2006) Review Among the stupid remakes of classical horror movies, mainly in the slasher genre, with "gems" like the remake of Halloween, Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street, we have this one, which is the worst of the bunch and did't even need to be made. Of course, it's more violent and more gory than the original, but it lacks it's creativity, humor, suspense and all that made the original a good movie. The cast is likable, the visuals are nice, the tone and atmosphere are appropriate for a slasher movie but it's a bad movie and a waste of time. I recommend the original! 4.5/10

Black Christmas (1974) Movie Review

Imagine
Black Christmas (1974) Review So before Margot Kidder was the object of Superman's affection, she starred in this classic slasher/Christmas movie. It took me by surprise because it is so damn smart and ingenious. It's very different from other slasher movies like Halloween or Friday the 13th or even Nightmare on Elm Street. It's got suspense, the tension is tangible, the atmosphere is grim and dark, the camera angles and the POV shots from the killers perspective, which remains unknown, are incredible. It goes from a slasher movie to a gripping and tense police thriller. The killer, like I said, is never shown, which amps the ante in the terror department. The calls are disturbing and weird, plus we get a nice combination of suspense and scares and no gore exaggeration. Of course the quality of the movie is dated but the whole spookiness of the entire movie is worth to watch. The score is good to. Recommended 100%! 8/10

Morgan (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
Morgan (2016) Review So I was a bit disappointed with this movie because it has a nice premise but the movie does not take advantage of that. Instead of getting a truly smart and tense sci-fi, we get a lot of action and a lot of nature. Don't get me wrong, I liked the action that it depicted, it was very well crafted but I would have liked that it had some plot development. The story misses a few marks, it is predictable and the ending was half bad, half good. It has a twist, but it's a predictable one. It kinda reminded me of "Ex Machina" mixed with "Splice", two movies that are better than this. It's quite a different take on the AI intelligence but I would have liked it more if the story was differently handled. Good performance by Kate Mara. 6/10

Yoga Hosers (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
Yoga Hosers (2016) Review Kevin Smith, what were you thinking when you made this movie? It's a boll of crap. It is basically a unofficial sequel to his other weird and disturbing movie, "Tusk", which I liked, despite its twisted story. That movie,at least, had some dark and twisted humor. This one has nothing. It's not funny, it's boring, it's effects are laughable, the only jokes that it contains are poop jokes, but jokes and the all time favorite penis jokes. The plot is nowhere to be found, the writing is awful and it was just a unnecessary movie. The main characters did not deserve their own movie, that swift appearance in "Tusk" was enough but being the daughters of Johnny Depp and Kevin Smith takes you a long way. Even Johnny Depp could not save this movie, although his character was the only good thing about this movie. It has a few nice ties with Smith's other movie like Clerks or Jay and Silent Bob and he brought Stan Lee into this,

Storks (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
Storks (2016) Review So this is a animation about storks. It's colorful, funny, with a crazy idea that most of it works. It's got a nice voice cast with Andy Samberg and Jennifer Aniston and a crazy and funny green pigeon. Some of the gags and jokes fall flat and don't work, the plot is a bit confusing at times. The ending is a bit emotional. Overall, it's a good and funny movie, a good time to spend with your kids or you're entire family. It's not bad but is forgettable. 7.1/10

Jack Frost (1998) Movie Review

Imagine
Jack Frost (1998) Review No, this is not the horror version of Jack Frost, this is the more sentimental and emotional version. So let's get the bad things out of the way first. The plot is sketchy and not so very believable, the effects are bad and dated, the story line is good but to emotional. Now for the good things because there are. The story is nice, is about second chances which is good, the performances are great and Michael Keaton makes for a very funny snowman, the emotion is tangible but in some cases it's over the top, there are some funny and comedic moments which distract you from the depressing tone of the story. It is more targeted towards kids than adults but it's a funny and enjoyable Christmas movie. There are worse movies than this. 6/10

Office Christmas Party (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
Office Christmas Party (2016) Review So, the reason I go to see a comedy at the theater is that I want to laugh and that is all and this movie made me laugh, not hard but enough to be a good comedy and a good and crazy Christmas movie. The plot is not good and it's overstuffed with to much exposition but the talented comedic cast, that includes Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman and T.J.Miller, does a fine job at keeping you on your seat. It is predictable, raunchy and some of the gags disappoint but the movie is not that bad. Between this and Bad Santa 2, I would choose this one because Bad Santa 2 is a rehash of the first movie. For me is a fresh one. 7/10

The Magnificent Seven (2016) Movie Review

Imagine
The Magnificent Seven (2016) Review So we got another remake but this time it's good. It's actually not a remake, it's a re-remake because the one from the 1960 was a remake for the 1954 "Seven Samurais" from the legendary filmmaker Akira Kurosawa. You don't have to like either of these two movies, but I strongly recommend all three of them, to enjoy this one. It does not live up to it's title and it does not top the original but it is a very entertaining action western that stands on its one. If you have seen the classic from the 1960 you will recognize a few lines and, undoubtedly, the famous theme song. The action is great, the final showdown is a delight, the cast is excellent with great performances from each one but the stand outs were Chris Pratt, Denzel Washington and Vincent D'Onofrio. Director Antoine Fuqua, who collaborate with Washington for the excellent "Training Day" and "The Equalizer", brings a modern touch to

Four Christmases (2008) Movie Review

Imagine
Four Christmases (2008) Review So this movie is like anti Christmas, anti marriage, anti kids and anti everything. The idea itself is good and a bit crazy but the execution is flawed. The jokes fall flat, the script is chaotic, to be polite, and, despite the strong cast, the performances are not that great. This movie suffers also from the lack of chemistry between the two leads, in the movie and in real life. Some bits are funny but rest of the movie is predictable. It does not offer anything special and it's not a good movie but you can watch it around Christmas. Only on Christmas! 4.5/10

Fred Claus (2007) Movie Review

Imagine
Fred Claus (2007) Review After he gave us the extremely underrated "Wedding Crashers", David Dobkin returns, alongside Vince Vaughn, again and this time as a co-producer and actor, bringing us this Christmas "gift". I'm not going to lie, the movie is not that good but it has a good feel to it. Some scenes contain good humor, others not so good and a bit racist. The casting is great but, unfortunately, all this talent is wasted. The movie suffers, also, from over sentimentalism, like it has to much sentiment. It tries to be different from other Christmas movie and it succeeds, almost. It does not quite find the balance between comedy and sentiment. The tone is good and it's a nice movie to watch with your family on Christmas. 5.5/10

Deck the Halls (2006) Movie Review

Imagine
Deck the Halls (2006) Review So, this movie happened. What can I say about this man? First of all, the entire plot on which is build is freaking insane, and not in a good way. The humor falls flat on its face, does not have that spark that will put people into a holiday mood. DeVito and Broderick make a good pair but, despite their better efforts, they cannot save this entire mistake of a movie. It's not funny, it's not enjoyable and it does not fill you up the the Christmas cheer. The only good thing in the movie are the lights. That synergy between the lights, music and images is awesome. Only for that and the final scene of the movie when everybody comes together I will give it a 5/10.

Christmas with the Kranks (2004) Movie Review

Imagine
Christmas with the Kranks (2004) Review Wait a minute. It's based on a book? By John Grisham? The author behind books like "The Firm" or "Runaway Jury"? Maybe the book is good but the movie is bad. You do not make a Christmas movie that promotes commodity and conformity. It's a comedy without the comedy. There are a few laughs, here and there, a few emotions as well but it does not work. Tim Allen should have stayed with his Santa Claus trilogy (review coming soon). It's true, is a Christmas movie and, no matter how bad it is (Four Christmases), I still have a soft spot for it. It does have a family feel to it, a good message about friends and love and what are people willing to do to help others. If you don't fall in love with it, at least you will have a few laughs and feel good along the holidays. No fresh for this one I'm afraid. 5.5/10

Elf (2003) Movie Review

Imagine
Elf (2003) Review Before he introduced us to Iron Man and begin the MCU, Jon Favreau did this Christmas movie that is full of Yuletide cheer. Let me start off by saying that it looks like a fairy tale, like it flew off the pages of a book and onto the screen. It's joyful, funny, full of Christmas spirit and, some times, a bit crazy. Of course, most of that fun comes from the excellent performance by Will Ferrell as the titular character. It is not a perfect movie, not even close. The effects are not that great, they are a bit laughable, some jokes are a bit inappropriate and sometimes racist but, overall, the movies is a good family film and a classic to watch on Christmas. "Son of a nutcracker" that was nice. 7.5/10

Krampus (2015) Movie Review

Imagine
Krampus (2015) Review So I went in to this one and expect another weak Christmas horror movie. I was half right. Although the movie is a nice bit of fun and it can satisfy the average fan of B-horror movies, it does not quite have the impact as it's title would suggest. It gives a nice change from all those traditional Christmas movies we were accustomed to. It has a Gremlin feel to it, the effects are great and the story was good just not well executed. Although, from my part, it gives the most accurate depiction of this Christmas legend. It's not a good horror movie and not even a good movie but it's a good fun movie. 7/10
